After a fairly significant period of inactivity (on my part) I went ahead and installed a new theme for this site, perhaps thinking that’s all it would take to spruce things up. Unfortunately, I discovered that WordPress (the backbone of this site) had changed quite a bit since I last logged into the Masonic Web.
I suddenly had problems with folder permissions and even just getting the site to reflect tweaks to the new theme. All pages were also still being reflected with dynamic URL’s, which seemed to be a bit too inconvenient. The latest versions of WP included support for nice, simple web page addresses. For example, the link to Blue Lodge links might have looked something like “masonicweb.org/page_id?=2” but now looks like “masonicweb.org/blue-lodge“, which is obviously much easier to remember.
Since I was wiping out the whole site, I did my best to backup all of the links that were already a part of this site. I seem to be missing the links for International Blue Lodges, but that’s about it. All else seems pretty good.
As I find the time I will go and clean up the links pages more, such as adding individual pages for the different jurisdictions (most commonly, states) for the Blue Lodge links, as well as others.
